Dental Crowns & Bridges

Restoring Strength, Function, and Aesthetics

Each tooth plays a vital role in speaking, chewing, and maintaining proper alignment within your bite. While tooth loss is not an inevitable part of aging, missing or severely damaged teeth should be restored promptly to preserve oral function and overall health.

Dental crowns and bridges are among the most reliable and widely used solutions for repairing compromised teeth and replacing missing ones—restoring both function and the natural appearance of your smile.

Key Benefits of Dental Crowns & Bridges

  • Restore and protect weakened or damaged teeth
  • Replace one or more missing teeth
  • Provide support for fractured, worn, or misshapen teeth
  • Deliver natural-looking, aesthetically pleasing results
  • Improve chewing efficiency and speech
  • Prevent shifting of adjacent teeth
  • Help maintain facial structure and contours

Capabilities of Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are versatile restorative solutions capable of addressing a wide range of dental concerns. These restorations are typically fabricated from high-quality porcelain or porcelain fused to metal alloys, offering both durability and lifelike appearance.

They are commonly recommended in cases involving:

  • Teeth weakened by large fillings, fractures, or decay
  • Excessive wear or structural breakdown
  • Replacement of missing teeth due to injury or disease
  • Persistent discomfort caused by cracks in back teeth
  • Cosmetic concerns such as discoloration or chipped front teeth
  • Protection of teeth following root canal treatment

In situations where veneers may not be appropriate, porcelain crowns and bridges provide an excellent alternative for restoring both strength and aesthetics.

The Dental Crown Process

Traditional Crowns
The procedure begins with numbing the area for comfort, followed by reshaping the tooth to accommodate the crown. An impression or digital scan is then taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where your custom crown is fabricated. A temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth while the permanent restoration is being made. Once ready, the final crown is securely cemented, adjusted for proper fit, and polished for a natural finish.

Same-Day Crowns
In select cases, crowns can be designed and fabricated in a single visit using advanced digital technology. After capturing a digital scan, specialized software is used to design the crown, which is then milled from a solid ceramic block in-office. The restoration is bonded in place the same day, eliminating the need for a temporary crown or additional appointments.

The Dental Bridge Process

Dental bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth or restorations. There are two primary types:

Fixed Bridge
A fixed bridge consists of one or more artificial teeth supported by crowns placed on neighboring teeth. Impressions are taken and sent to a dental laboratory for fabrication. Once completed, the bridge is permanently bonded in place, restoring both function and appearance. This option typically requires two to three visits.

Removable Bridge (Partial Denture)
A removable bridge is designed to attach to adjacent teeth using discreet clasps, allowing it to be taken out for cleaning and sleeping. This option offers flexibility and affordability, particularly for patients who may not be candidates for fixed bridges or dental implants. Like fixed bridges, fabrication generally requires multiple appointments.
